The Age and Ability Technical Group (A2TG) brings together researchers, practitioners, industry professionals, policymakers, caregivers, educators, and students who are dedicated to addressing HF/E issues across the full human lifespan, from early childhood through older adulthood, including individuals with special needs.
This technical group emphasizes the importance of understanding developmental and age-related changes in cognitive, physical, perceptual, and social capabilities, and how these influence interactions with products, systems, and environments. Core application areas include home, school, workplace, transportation, recreation, healthcare, and digital technologies. Members explore a wide range of topics, including injury prevention, usability, workload, decision-making, accessibility, and inclusive design.
Through interdisciplinary collaboration, research dissemination, and networking, we provide a dynamic platform for lifespan-aware HF/E practices that support human well-being, safety, and dignity at all stages of life.
All officers serve one-year terms (calendar year). The Technical Group Vice Chair and Technical Group Vice Program Chair automatically become Chairs of the respective positions after one calendar year and a call for nominations is issued each fall for new Vice Chairs.
